the planners suite conference day one
The 2018 Planners Suite Conference began on Monday , January 29th - and we can definitely say it was a dream that dared to come true. As attendees collected badges, took photos, chatted with vendors and grabbed some breakfast - we were preparing to open their minds (and the doors). As they entered the doors into the wonderful world of TPS, they likely were overwhelmed by the sea of green linens from BBJ, the lush flowers and elaborate stage set-up from Fabulous Fox Designs, and a video of the cocktail party courtesy of Reeshard Scott. Our design team put so much thought into the feel of the room - the emerald green gift boxes and Oz themed programs designed by Wilori Lane were just simple components in a grand scheme of green!
And once it was time to begin, the emcee, the amazing Natalie Fikes took the stage and set the tone for a power packed day. Her energy and presence ignited our attendees - and as she told them that the conference was all about them taking the time to #Dare2Dream - we knew the planners in the room would be forever changed. She asked each planner to answer the question “What do you dare to dream about your business?”
After a warm wizarding welcome from Jon’ll Boyd of Completely Yours Events and Laurie Hartwell of The Bridal Society - our partner in planning - day one kicked of with Sheila and Stephanie from BANK - who taught planners their “code” in order to learn how they’re sold to and how they should sell. Planners literally rushed the stage to learn more! Afterwards - Laurie came back to tell us the importance of work/life balance in the industry. Once she was done - everyone was directed to follow the yellow brick road to their round table discussions. With topics like Styled Shoots, Recovering from Bad Reviews, Getting Referrals, and Contracts - we’re sure planners took home a lot! They also probably worked up an appetite - so off to lunch.
During lunch, The Bridal Society took the time to acknowledge a few of its members before jumping into the unicorn panel where Jessica Smith from The Knot, Ronnie Tyler of Black and Married with Kids, and Kelsie Allen Barton of Modern Luxury Weddings Atlanta told attendees just how to target those ideal clients.
After lunch, planners were in for a true treat. After a quick (and tiring lol) workout with Nichelle of Vessels of Honor - Celebrity Planner Diann Valentine took the stage and reminded planners the importance of being themselves and that not every risk has immediate reward. She was transparent and asked for the audience to be the same. In everything they do! She even took the same to stay and sign a few books!
Myrna Plaisir Daramy came and told us a bit about the one thing all of us know we need to know but just can’t get a grip on - SEOs, then Jon’ll came back to tell us the importance of leveling up your business through the power of “NO”. Eliana Bauiccault aka “Elly B” closed out day one by giving us a peek at how she brands without breaking the bank.
And this is just a taste of what day one had to offer - how could day two possibly top this?
