the plannee awards cocktail party
The 4th Annual Planners Suite Conference made its way down to sunny Orlando, kicking off on Sunday, January 27th. And just like last year, we get things started in our “Little Havana” with The Plannee Awards. Now we are our planners, and wish we could of course make mother nature our friend, but she isn’t always on our side. However, the rain did not stop this paraded As planners made their way into the Westin Lake Mary’s ballroom for a night of celebrating themselves. And wow - did everyone look ready for a party. Florals and fun prints and pops of color galore could be seen as everyone stepped into our little paradise.
After a bit of mixing and mingling over some Cuban inspired cocktails - it was time to give out awards. Lauren Atwaters of Ten23 first accepted the Brand It Well award for her one-of-a-kind designs that have become a staple across the industry, and reminded us the importance of thanking our peers for continuing to push us forward. Susan Southerland of Just Events Inc, who was unable to make it, was acknowledge for the Corporate Creative award because of her fabulous work in the conference world! Next up, Sherrica Bittle and her team at Epic Event Planning were recognized for Event Team of the Year, and shared why it is so important to have a strong backbone to hold up your business. Last but certainly not least, Elly B accepted the Purpose Award on behalf of Darryl Moore of D. Concierge Events - and shared with us just why Darryl encompasses everything it means to use your talents to help everyone around you.
We also took the time to acknowledge those who won The Howerton-Wooten Empowerment Scholarships to remind all planners that your story is just being written and all things move in the time they’re supposed to.
We finished the awards by acknowledging 3 amazing planners that have turned their businesses around for the better with the Eventagious Rising Star Awards. Necoya Tyson of All About You Management made us laugh as she gave her testimony of faith and perseverance. Yolanda Boulware made us shout by reminding us that every door that closes can be opened, and nodded to last year’s conference when Darryl Moore told us to “Take the Damn Risk.” And finally, Jameelah Davis brought the room to tears when she told us how last year, she did not feel like she belonged in the room, but that the room took her in and has kept her ever since. Each of these women reminded all of us just what TPS does - it creates a network of support and love in both business and personal life - because no matter how “competitive” the industry gets - we all need someone.
Once the formalities were done - DJ Jennie quickly took us to Havana and all the happy tears turned into cheers! It was time to PARTY! Planners took to the floor in order to party the night away! It was as if they did not have a conference to get ready for the next morning! The Second Annual Plannee Awards Cocktail Party was an absolute success and we want to thank each and every one of you for a great evening!
