the planners suite conference day one

The 2019 Planners Suite Conference started on an early and cloudy Monday, January 28th. Once the doors opened, the sounds of Little Havana filled the Luxmore Grande Estate, and the first thing attendees saw was a beautiful arrangement of balloons cascading down the staircase installed by American Balloons in Orlando. It was obvious from here that we were in for a party. The planners were seated at tables such as “Many Mojitos” and “El Capitolio” - and greeted by a beautiful cigar box full of goodies! The tables were adorned with florals from Flowers by Lesley and a beautiful program by Taylor and Hov. Many planners jumped at the chance to take a photo of the stage from Panache Events, adorned with the Luxmore’s beautiful furniture and draping done by Jones Event Decor. Our design team put so much thought into the feel of the room - it was HOT in HAVANA!

The amazing Natalie Fikes took the stage again this year as our emcee, and our attendees felt her presence the moment they heard her voice! Her ability to ignite and inspire the ladies kept them going from start to finish. It is was crucial, as this year’s conference was all about the importance of Burning Bright - not out!  This year’s conference was all about the importance of preventing and bouncing back from the dreaded burn out - and being the best in your business. Natalie asked the planner - “What will you do when you leave here to burn bright in your business?”

Shortly after, TPS Founder Jon’ll Boyd came to welcome everyone and get them pumped for the day. She spoke on the foundation of preventing burn-out being love, and set the tone for love being a revolving theme for the day by having Gospel Artist, Beverly Johnson sing her hit song - Thank You For Loving Me. After this tugged at our hearts and every grabbed tissues for their happy tears from White Confetti Box, it was time to get down to business.

Sherron Washington gave an explosive and energetic presentation on how to “Fix Our Marketing” Jon’ll then came back to tell us the importance of work/life balance by training yourself to “Calendar Block” making the time you want for the things that matter. Once she was done - it was time to divide and conquer in round table discussions. This year’s discussion included topics such as Networking, Pricing, Creating Content, and Video Marketing. Everyone was eager to get up and get started so we quickly taxi’d out the room and got started.

After RTDs, we headed to a delicious lunch outside from the Luxmore and dessert from Anna Cakes (did we mention mimosas...because there were also mimosas.) Fellowship and fun would lead into a great keynote presentation.

Kathy Romero came out fighting when she entered into the rocky song - reminding us that we too must climb our steps to get to our top. She talked about the importance in being intentional with your vision (and vision board). Her presentation focused on knowing one’s worth and the importance of staying true to that in order to be successful. However many found her quotes to be one of her best takeaways:

“The moment you let go of the survival of the fittest mentality, that’s when true growth happens”

- Kathy Romero.

Kathy spoke wholeheartedly about her soul system and how one cannot be truly successful without one. This resonated throughout the remainder of the conference as planners began to love on one another and develop the relationships they needed in order to make the rest of their conference experience truly matter.

A planner panel was a wonderful way to follow-up our keynote presentation - as Elana Walker, Kim Tran, Lisa Stoner, and Drew Vanlandingham spoke on the importance of leaning on one another in the industry and having those strong relationships in order to move forward in business. Planners had questions about the proper ways to go about these relationships both internally and externally in terms of their businesses and felt they all came away with the answers they needed.

The day finished out with Sugar and Nar of Taylor and Hov talking about the importance of “Building a Sticky Brand” in order to define yourself in a heavy market. Terrica Skaggs then wrapped up the day telling us to be present with ourselves and our family so that we don’t ever forget our why - a major key in burning bright - not out.
