the planners suite conference day two
Once again, the fabulous Natalie Fikes opened up with a bang and had the planners up and moving with some quick selfies. After the photoshoot, she introduce our illustrious AARP panel.
We heard from different generations of women speaking on how to go about “Bossing Up” and providing tips through sharing their own personal journeys. Ashley Johnson, Angela Moore, Donna Ginn, and Felicia Brown gave us perspective and sass in order to spice up our morning.
Afterwards, Jon’ll then took the stage again this year to answer everyone’s burning questions with her “Ask Jon’ll” cards. This year planners asked about finding their niche and establishing themselves within the industry. Afterwards, Jon’ll revamped and decided that now was the time to unveil how people could truly get their questions answered. Usually we wait until the end to announce where TPS will be headed next - but TPS 2020 was just too big to wait until the end.
Jon’ll Boyd announce The Planner’s Suite Live would be coming to the DMV in 2020. This interactive conference would allow planners to not just take notes - but actually do the work that needs to be done so that they can leave TPS knowing that they have something tangible and substantial in their hands.
Just like day 1 - planners headed back to their Round Tables before heading to lunch. They came back to some wonderful goodies including a Business Planner from Daily Greatness Planner and sweet treats from Delmaes Catering.
They also came back to laughter and business talks when Brian Green told us how to “Underpromise and Over Deliver” and the importance of understanding your target client so you never have to step too far outside of your contract. He was followed up by Susan Southerland who told us how to be all about the benjamins by determining how to develop multiple streams of income.
Another highlight of the day was the transparency planners were met with when the multidisciplinary panel took the stage. This time, vendors (or “friendors” if you have them) had a chance to tell planners exactly why they would - or wouldn’t - work with or refer certain planners. Venue owner Tamuel, Videographer Chip, Florist Bron, and DJ Kristin told planners like it is and spoke truthfully when doing so. An eye opening and mutually beneficial experience. We closed the day out with a poppingly, pink performance from Christy “Cece” Todd who reminded us that our humble beginnings are lessons, and that we don’t have to cut them out of our lives - just out of our website and advertising. She said if you want to service a certain client - you must make the sacrifices to appeal to that market.
And with that - another conference came to an end! We closed out reminding everyone the importance of love and to be thankful for the love they have for themselves and for others and that others have for them. It is the driving force behind truly being able to BURN BRIGHT!
We want to thank every attendee, speaker, and creative partner that helped make the 4th Annual Planners Suite Conference such a huge success! We are because you continue to be! Though the Planners Suite is no more - we can’t wait to bring you this next chapter!
